"Witchcraft, prophecy, and murderous ambition"

Dede Williams as Macbeth questioning the dagger's existence.

An adapted script of a true legend of theater, this production's version of the Scottish play exists in a world where men and patriarchal gender constructs do not exist. Set on a barren stage decorated by looming boulders ready to punctuate each tragic death, Macbeth's story unfolds surrounded by commanding war drums, rumbling basslines, and terrifying strings.

Featuring an original score, the music of the show served as both a reflection of the characters' emotional states and also to elevate the drama of the story. Scottish drums were the highlight; they were utilized both diegetically as in-world effects and abstractly such as Duncan's heartbeat that haunts Macbeth's guilty conscience.

The Macbeths are crowned at the banquet.

Banquo is brutally murdered.

Banquo's ghost haunts Macbeth at the banquet.

The sound of the show gradually shifted from hyper-realistic to deeply abstract and musical as the story progressed to mirror Macbeth's descent into madness.
